How TRON charges for a transfer
TRC-20 transfers, USDT included, spend two separate resources: energy for contract execution and bandwidth for the transaction bytes. An account with staked TRX regenerates both daily at no cost. An account without them pays by having TRX burned from its balance, which is why the same USDT transfer can cost nothing or roughly 13 to 27 TRX depending only on how the sender is set up.

Reading the result
- Sending USDT to an address that has never held USDT costs about twice the energy, because the transfer has to create the token account as well as move the balance.
- Energy prices are set by network parameters and have been raised before. A figure you memorised last year may no longer be the figure you pay.
- Renting energy from a marketplace is usually cheaper than burning TRX and cheaper than staking, if you only send occasionally. Staking wins on steady volume.
